Last night was Pairings first fundraiser - Dare to Pair: The Chef's Challenge at Spire. We were greeted with a wonderful glass of Spumante Champagne from Old Firehouse Winery. They had 2 bands playing at opposite ends of the room and some delicious cheese and crackers from Adams Reserve. Plenty of time to mingle and peruse the miriad of donations for the silent auction. The room was packed and full of the buzz of what Pairings will mean to our area. We're looking forward to having such a quality culinary and wine place here in Ashtabula County! 5 different chefs prepared 2 tapas each for us to enjoy and a chance to win our vote for the best chef. In the end, my favorite dish was a butternut and leek bisque...mmmmmmm, wouldn't mind some more right now! Fox 8's David Moss was the emcee and many Ohio wineries were present to let us enjoy some of their wines. Drawings for the new facility were unveiled as we finished our plates. It was an enjoyable evening!
